Regional Psychological Therapies Lead
Band 8b, £47,791-59,081 per annum dependent on experience
Full time, 37.5 hours
Base to be discussed with successful candidate, covering Midlands and North England
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist to take up a senior clinical leadership role within Combat Stress.
Combat Stress was established in 1919. We are the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For almost a century, we’ve helped former servicemen and women deal with trauma-related mental health conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.
Today we provide UK-wide support to veterans from every service and every conflict, on the phone and online, in the community and at our treatment centres. We’re on a mission to raise awareness that invisible injuries can be just as hard to cope with as physical ones. So when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to take on the future.
In this role you will work closely with our national Head of Psychological Therapies and the Regional Operations Manager to develop veteran treatment programmes, and supervise the role of Psychologists or CBT Therapists within our multi-disciplinary teams in the Midlands/Central England. A skilled CBT Supervisor, you will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical assessment, formulation and therapy skills, gained from experience of working therapeutically with adults with trauma/PTSD and who have complex mental health problems. You will also be able to:
- Provide one to one and group evidence-based interventions, including CBT/trauma-focused CBT and ideally at least one other therapeutic approach
- Work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams, taking a lead role liaising with referrers and with our triage assessment team, in supporting teams to develop collaborative, psychologically-informed treatment plans
- Showcase experience of contributing to the development of interventions, service planning/improvement, and audit or research.
You will provide clinics in Birmingham, Leeds or Derby dependent on where you are based. Some travel will be required between our treatment centre in Newport, Shropshire and these outreach hubs. Occasional travel to our headquarters in Surrey will be required.
Combat Stress has strong clinical links to the NHS and other providers of veteran mental health services and research links to Kings’ Military Mental Health Unit. Development of links with local NHS/other third sector providers and of research interests will be strongly encouraged.
What we offer
In return, we will provide the opportunity to join the UK’s leading veteran mental health organisation at a time of substantial growth and development. Supervision and CPD will be provided to help you to develop your clinical and leadership skills. You will join a newly established, friendly and supportive regional team that is keen to develop a reflective teams approach and a veteran-led service. In addition, we offer the following benefits:
- 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- competitive stakeholder pension scheme - contributions matched up to 10%
- childcare vouchers
- discount shopping
- cycle to work scheme
