Elections for Members of the Board

Election for President Elect and Elected Members to the Board

For the first time since the AGM in Canterbury 2005, we have a ballot for electing new Board members - a President Elect and four Elected Members. Two Elected Members are to replace the retiring EMs and will serve for three years each. The other two Elected Member vacancies arise from the resignation of two EMs each of whom had one year remaining in office so the elected replacements will serve just one year. This is a very healthy situation that more members are showing an interest in being elected to the Board of Directors and being Trustees.

There are two nominations for President Elect and you are asked to vote for just one candidate. The President Elect serves in that office for one year and then becomes President for two years followed by a further year as Past President.

There are five nominations for Elected Member and you may vote for up to four candidates. The two candidates with the highest vote will be offered a term of office of their choice (one year or three years) and the next two candidates in order will be offered the remaining one year or three year terms.

As with the election in 2005, we have requested Electoral Reform Services to administer the ballots. Among the benefits of this is that members can choose to vote electronically via the internet instead of a postal vote. We hope this will facilitate a much greater turnout. However, it will not be possible to return your ballot paper at the AGM. Voting will only be via post or the internet and voting closes on 15 July 2009, the day before the AGM. The Articles of Association of BABCP do allow for these election procedures.

Ballot papers were dispatched by the Electoral Reform Services to all members on 22nd June 2009. The nominated candidates are:
