Joining the BABCP
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice and theory of behavioural and cognitive psychotherapy.

Advantages of Membership include the following: 

- Free copy of the respected academic journal  "Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy" published quarterly by Cambridge University Press.
- Free regular newsletter containing news about the Association.
- Preferential rates for academic journals, workshops and conferences.
- Access to a wide range of information disseminated by the association on areas of interest.
- A Research Fund is being established to which members will eventually be able to apply for research grants.
- Access through the internet to an increasing variety of BABCP services.
- A National BABCP Conference and Workshops are held annually in July.
- Regional and Special Interest Groups organise their own events throughout the year. Members receive information about these and have free membership of whichever groups they choose.
- BABCP members automatically become members of the European Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT).
- Accreditation as a Cognitive/Behavioural Psychotherapist is available to members who meet additional criteria. Accreditation through BABCP is currently the only means of Registration with the Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapy Section of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

Simply print off the Membership Application Form and Direct Debit Instruction (if appropriate). Overseas applicants can make payment by credit card.

SUBSCRIPTION RATES

The membership year is 1 October to 30 September. However initial membership can be for a full year or part year, backdated or post-dated. A new full year membership will be backdated or post-dated to commence 1st October and will include all 5 issues of the journals for the respective year. A new part year membership will be backdated or post-dated to commence 1st May and will include only issues 3, 4 & 5 of the journals for the respective part year.

For example; A new member joining in April 2008 may opt for the full year backdated to 1st October 2007 and receive all 5 journals for 2008 or they may prefer to post date to 1st May 2008 and only receive the May , Jul and Oct journals for 2008. A new member joining in August 2008 may opt to backdate to Oct 2007 for all 2008 journals, May 2008 for last 3 journals for 2008 or post date to 1st October 2009 with journals commencing 2009. Part year memberships are processed from mid March and post dated memberships for the coming year are processed from September 1st.

ALL membership renewals are due on 1st October each year following the commencement of backdated or post dated membership.

The following proposed rates will apply from 1 October 2007 to 30th September 2008.

Members paying by Direct Debit must have a Current Account at a U.K. Bank

ALL CHEQUES MUST BE IN £STERLING AND PAYABLE TO BABCP

In U.K. the Inland Revenue has agreed that subscriptions are allowable against income on tax returns. You can claim back the tax through your tax return OR you can take advantage of the Gift Aid Scheme to BABCP as a registered charity. BABCP can reclaim your tax on your behalf for the Research Fund. NB for NEW DIRECT DEBIT PAYMENTS:-

It can take around four weeks to set up and process direct debit instructions, Currently direct debit payments will be taken on the 15th (or  next working day after) and the last working day of the month.
