BABCP Member Raises Funds For New Zealand Earthquake Appeal
Many of you will have seen the tragic coverage of the devastation caused by the earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, last month.
The Association has strong links with colleagues in New Zealand, particularly following the creation of Associate Membership of BABCP for members of Aotearoa New Zealand Association for Cognitive Behavioural Therapies.
Christchurch is the home of UK based BABCP member Lauren Callaghan, who works at the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma at the Maudsley / IOP.
Lauren, and her colleague Dr Deborah Cullen, will be running in the London Marathon on 17 April 2011 and have decided to use the opportunity to raise funds for the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
Lauren says: ‘Although I am very lucky that my family all survived, it is very sad watching it unfold from this side of the world. This is obviously a good cause and very close to my heart. I know the people of Christchurch are strong in spirit and will rebuild the communities that have been destroyed, I would like to do what little I can to help them.’
