What is the EABCT?

All BABCP members are members of the European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT).

BABCP is a member organisation of EABCT. So if you have BABCP membership, you automatically belong to the EABCT.

BABCP Accreditation and EABCT Recognition

Our Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist Accreditation has been reviewed and approved against EABCT’s accreditation standards, which means we have EABCT accreditation.

If you are accredited as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist on our CBT Register UK and Ireland, you are eligible to apply for an EABCT Certificate. BABCP-accredited members can find out more on our EABCT Certificate page (login required).

Overseas Accreditation

If you have EABCT recognition through one of the other member associations, you will be eligible to teach or supervise on one of our accredited CBT programmes. To be listed on our CBT Register UK & Ireland as an accredited CBT therapist you must complete our own individual accreditation process.

Standards for EABCT accreditation are the same for all member associations, but some may have different approaches to meeting the standards.

If you want to know more about being accredited as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with us, please see our Can I get accredited? FAQ
