We were delighted that members of the BABCP Board and Equality & Culture Special Interest Group – now named the Anti-Racist Special Interest Group - worked with IAPT* [*now NHS Talking Therapies] to produce an updated version of their BAME Service User Positive Practice Guide in 2019.
With a foreword by past BABCP President Professor Paul Salkovskis, this guide includes information on topics such as engagement with service users and workforce planning, as well as useful references and tools.
Although published for use in IAPT* services, we hope that all BABCP members and other mental health practitioners will take the opportunity to use the Guide in reaching all our communities.
We are aware that the use of terminology changes. You can also access The Power of Language, published by the NHS Race & Health Observatory which you may find helpful to use alongside the Guide.
