Freedom from Torture is dedicated to healing and protecting people who have survived torture. We provide therapies to improve physical and mental health, we medically document torture, and we provide legal and welfare help. We expose torture globally, we fight to hold torturing states to account and we campaign for fairer treatment of torture survivors in the UK.
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative National Director of Clinical Services to provide clinical leadership and set the direction for our services for survivors of torture and our ambitions to be recognised as a clinical centre of excellence.
The role will drive continuous improvement of Freedom from Torture’s services and achieve the flagship commitment in our strategy to double the number of torture survivors who benefit from our life-saving clinical services by the end of 2025.
As a member of our Senior Management Team, this post also contributes to cross-organisational strategy-setting and the overall corporate management of Freedom from Torture.
To be successful you will need to have a relevant clinical qualification, experience of providing evidence-based clinical services to survivors of torture, refugees or other groups experiencing the specific combination of severe trauma and extreme socio-economic and/or legal marginalisation, and a background in clinical service management and leadership.
We are distinctive in the clinical world because of our strong human rights ethos and seek candidates who will lead from the front in championing survivor empowerment and participation across our Clinical Services directorate, which comprises around 200 staff including volunteers.
Freedom from Torture is strongly committed to diversity, equality and inclusion and welcomes applications from those who also have direct experience of torture, the asylum system or overcoming personal adversity and/or who come from Black, Asian, ethnic minority and/or other under-represented groups.
