Apply for EMHP Registration

Criteria

  1. Be a BABCP member. If you are not currently a BABCP member, your registration fee will include Standard Rate BABCP membership.
  2. Graduation from a Health Education England (HEE) Quality Assured EMHP Training Course (prior to January 2023) or a British Psychological Society (BPS) Accredited EMHP training course (January 2023 onwards). A list of HEE approved courses is available here.
  3. You must be accountable for your professional practice to a senior member of your service.*
  4. You must agree to a sustained commitment to the theory and practice of EMHP working.
  5. You must be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the therapeutic relationship and competence in the development, maintenance and ending of such relationships, via a Supervisor’s Report, which is submitted in advance of your Register application.
  6. You must adhere to the BABCP Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics
  7. As part of your clinical work, you must be providing a minimum of two hours per week of EMHP Interventions. Delivery must be via live interventions e.g. telephone, video or face to face. The clinical practice should include delivery of the following:
    • 1:1 assessment and CBT-informed interventions for anxiety and low mood, and Social Learning Theory informed interventions for behavioural difficulties, including Parent-Led interventions.
    • Whole school/college approaches delivering psychoeducation workshops to children, young people, parents/carers and school and college staff
    • Delivering targeted and universal group-based interventions.
  8. Your clinical practice must be primarily supporting children and young people age 5-18, and 100 % of your caseload should with age under 26 years. Any work undertaken with adults within the system must be focused on their role as parent, carer or guardian of the child or young person who is primarily being supported.

*If you are currently out of practice, please refer to our Return to Practice information to register as a Wellbeing Practitioner. If you have recently graduated from a EMHP training programme and are actively seeking employment, please ask your most recent placement clinical skills supervisor to complete your supervisor report.

How to Apply

To apply for EMHP registration complete the online EMHP application by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. Please ensure your supervisor has submitted their EMHP Supervisor's Report to wellbeing.reports@babcp.com before you start your application. If you have been with your current supervisor for less than six months, you must also provide a report from your previous supervisor. For further information and the downloadable report template, please see EMHP Supervisor's Reports.

If you are not a current BABCP member - the fee to register for your first year will be £127. This includes annual BABCP Standard Rate membership. Your renewal fee will be £97 per annum (this may be subject to change).

If you are a current BABCP member - the initial registration fee is £45. Your registration renewal fee will be £15.

Renewal fees are payable on the anniversary of your Wellbeing Practitioner Registration date.

Pre-application Checklist

  • Supervisor has sent a completed report to wellbeing.reports@babcp.com
  • Certificate of training
    • You will need to demonstrate that you have completed appropriate training by uploading a copy of an official academic transcript, certificate, or letter to your online application.
    • This document must include your name, course title, bear the training institution stamp/seal and show you have successfully completed the course (post exam board ratification).
