A certificate of attendance will be issued for 2 x hours CPD. Registration closes - Midday Monday 12 June. Places are limited though so book early to avoid disappointment. Synopsis This workshop will introduce participants to Ph.D. research into the personal and professional experiences of therapists using Compassion Focused Therapy in their personal and professional lives (Wood 2021). This research was the basis of an Interpretative phenomenological Analysis and thematic analysis. The method of data collection was diary/interview. Since many CBT therapists use CFT as part of their practice, the ideas and insights from this research may have personal as well as professional relevance. For example, it may help them manage their own self-critic to achieve greater therapeutic presence with their patients which can lead to a more accurate understanding of patients. Or it may help them understand how the self-critic may block the therapists' ability to engage with self-compassionate behaviour both in and outside of their working environment. Learning outcomes
