70% of people will experience impostor syndrome at some point in their life, In fact, it's so common, it should be called impostor phenomenon! In small doses, this experience may motivate and fuel individuals. However, for many, the thoughts and feelings associated with impostor syndrome can have a negative impact on their personal and professional life, and if unmanaged, can lead to anxiety, depression and burnout.
This practical workshop will explore what impostor syndrome is, the types of impostor syndrome and how to support ourselves, and our clients in managing it daily. The session will draw from CBT and ACT to creatively develop psychological flexibility with thinking and engage in helpful behaviours to minimise the impact of impostor syndrome and support clients in moving forward personally and professionally.
This workshop is underpinned by the principles and tools drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which provide people a way to become more present, step back from unhelpful thoughts and enable a more creative, value-aligned way of responding. The focus is to develop greater ‘psychological flexibility', so that individuals can introduce a choice of how they manage impostor syndrome moving forward.
This workshop will be suitable for CBT Practitioners and Wellbeing Practitioners. It will be beneficial to anyone who has experienced impostor syndrome, or who works with clients who may be struggling with this issue. We look forward to welcoming you to the workshop and helping you develop the skills and strategies you need to manage impostor syndrome effectively.Learning outcomes
