Exploration of current paths of identification and management of Binge Eating Disorder and Bulimia Nervosa in primary care in the United Kingdom and development of recommendations for primary care

Stella Kozmér

Study title:

BED & BN in Primary Care

Who can take part?

We would like to hear from you if you are:

Primary care professional, including general practitioners, psychological wellbeing practitioners, dentists, nurse practitioners, optometrists and community pharmacists, Commissioner, Individual who identifies as suffering from the symptoms of Binge Eating Disorder and/or Bulimia Nervosa.

What is the purpose of the research?

We aim to improve the identification and management of BED and BN. To do this, we will first explore via surveys, patient and health professional experiences about what primary care settings are currently doing in the UK, if anything at all, to identify and manage BED/BN. This will help us to build our understanding of current practice and where, and possibly how, patient (and health professional) needs are or are not being met. We will then use this understanding, and by working closely with patients and health professionals in focus groups and an interactive workshop, to inform the development of specific recommendations for practice.

What does the study involve?

Taking part in this study involves sharing your experiences in a 5-minute anonymous survey about the identification and management of Binge Eating Disorder and Bulimia Nervosa in primary care in the United Kingdom. You can also take part in interviews to develop recommendations for change!
