Core Professions

To apply for accreditation, you first need to have one of our recognised professional backgrounds in mental health. We call this Core Profession. If your prior mental health profession is not listed here or you do not fully meet the criteria, we also recognise equivalent training and experience in mental health through the KSA Route to Accreditation.

Core Profession review

In 2019 our Practitioner and Accreditation Committee commissioned a thorough review of the Core Profession criteria to ensure that they all meet the equivalent standards. Following this, they decided on the changes below.

You can still apply for accreditation before 1st October 2020 using the old criteria if you have already completed your CBT training. If you were accepted on to a Level 2 accredited course before 1st October 2020 with one of the old criteria for your Core Profession you can still apply without completing a KSA.

Core Professions list and criteria valid until 1st October 2020

Valid until 1st October 2020 and for students who were admitted on to Level 2 accredited courses before 1st October 2020.

If this applies to you and you were offered a place in 2020, please keep evidence of the date you were offered a place on the course. You will need to submit it with your Level 2 Provisional Accreditation. Students admitted to any other courses after this time should use the new list.
